For United Methodists, Confirmation is a public COVENANT agreement
a baptized* person makes with God in the presence of family, friends and
members of the church. We call those being Confirmed “Confirmands.” Confirmands
promise - or “Confirm” - to uphold the
vows of their Baptism, with the help and support of the congregation; and they affirm that they will
participate as a member in the ministries of the Church.
As Confirmation is a path to joining the universal Body of Christ and your local church, United Methodist
churches offer “Confirmation Classes” to help prepare young people to (1)
articulate what they believe as they (2)profess their Faith and (3) Confirm
their commitment to living according to their belief in God the Father, Jesus
Christ and the Holy Spirit.
St.
John’s Ivyland will be offering Confirmation Classes for young people in the
7th Grade and older, in Fall 2025. There is an introductory meeting Sunday,
October 5th in the St. John’s Youth
Room.
